![]() ![]() Once the core is ejected you have 0 control over the ship, and you can't just make a new core. The reactor core is explosive, so you'll want to be going really fast to avoid the explosion. To avoid this, you can either not overheat like that, or you can eject the reactor core. Only when this hits 0% will you need to worry about the reactor blowing up. You'll notice (or the engineer will) that the "stability" of the reactor is decreasing. Once the heat reaches 100%, you still have time. You've got more breathing room than it looks like. But if your generator makes a max of 50,000 "power units" you're only using 1/5 of its capacity and will generate very little heat.Īs well, you don't need to worry about heat as much as you think. If your generator can only make a max of 15,000, you're 2/3 of the way full and will generate heat really fast. In other words, lets say you're using 10,000 "power units". That means that you want a generator with a huuuuuuuuge max energy production. Your heat generation is based on the percentage of the max power you are using. Its power output, its max temp, and other stuff. If you look at your generator, it has a few stats. They can be used for research which can seriously boost your crew. Find planets you can land on, get those resources. You need to get those as fast as you can. They're often small, hard to see, and there's only a couple (less than 4) per planet. Elements or materials that you need to harvest. There's "science resources" on every planet you can land on. Burning fuel cells to get the cooldowns on those programs to go away is critical to winning battles. You can stop an enemy ship mid-flight, boost your shields very quickly, etc, etc. The engineer can burn fuel cells to re-charge programs. Ooohh, thank you.A re-post from a comment I made some time ago: The best shields are (arguably) the Military Grade Shield Generator, which you can buy from shops or loot from normal ships, or the Tetragonal Surface Projector if you can find a high-level one at a specialty shop. High-level Deathseekers and Shock Drones drop the best reactors in the game, plus some really nice thrusters. Personally I'd recommend switching out your shield generator and reactor for more "normal" ones, but do whatever makes you happy. There's also a random mission ship that drops a special warp drive called the Dark Drive, so keep an eye out for that. I won't spoil the surprise by telling you which one is which. I approve of both the Lightning Turret and the Burst Turret. You can get special main guns from two of the bosses (exclamation points on the map), and one of the other bosses drops a special missile.
